Wendy,
Please thank all your incredible very patient guides and supporters for being there on Saturday, 10/18/08. It couldn’t have been a more wonderful day weather wise on the Cocheco with those amazing New England Autumn colors and such memories and good laughs too. The beauty of being in the middle of that fast moving river with a fly fishing rod in my hand was just overwhelming. I had to keep biting my lip so as not to cry. I was born in Boston and spent most of my early adult years in Harvard Square before I moved to Maine – in other words the core of Ms. Bobbie S. is an apartment living “City Girl”. So you can imagine how magical last Saturday was for me.
Janet, my dear supporter and guide, must have been thoroughly frustrated with her student since my line kept getting caught in the trees behind me. But she just kept walking back over the banks of the river time and again, reaching up to untangle the hook and urging me to try again. That “rolling cast” will be practiced on the York River in York, Maine. I promise Janet!
There are certain experiences that remain in one’s memory, and change the direction of one’s life a little bit. This certainly was one of them for me.
Thank YOU so much for all your hard work in pulling this event together. By the way, those pizzas from Weeksies were GOURMET – not the normal oily unhealthy type. Bravo Weeksies. And Bravo Albright for their amazing gift of waders- that was a real WOW! Just astounding all the way around.
Truly, truly, many thanks to all your wonderful crew – what a learning experience that was.
Best regards
